Bloomsburg Softball Splits Doubleheader with Millersville

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University softball team split a doubleheader with Millersville Friday afternoon. The Huskies won game one, 4-0, but fell in game two, 3-0.

The game two loss is the first time since 1980 that Millersville has defeated the Huskies in Bloomsburg.

In game one, the Huskies got rolling in the bottom of the first when Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) doubled in Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The Huskies offense went to work again in the bottom of the third, when Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) hit a two-run homer to give Bloomsburg a 3-0 lead through three innings. Ashley Lynn (Riverside /Danville) gave up four hits over seven innings to pick up her 15th win of the season.

In game two, Millersville would get out to an early lead and not look back. Janelle Mrakovich threw a four-hit shutout to pick up the win for Millersville.

With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 31-6 on the season, 8-4 in the PSAC East.

The Huskies return to action on Monday when they host Goldey-Beacom College. The action gets underway at 3:30 p.m.
